Design and display
The Tecno spark 7p is beautifully crafted with plastic material. At the middle top of the spark, 7p is its beautiful 8mp front camera, on the two top sides is its selfie flashlight for taking pictures at night. The Tecno spark 7p comes with a 6.8 inches long screen which makes the phone looks longer. Also its body to screen ratio is lovely. The bottom of spark 7p is occupied by the following, an earphone port a loudspeaker, a mouthpiece, a USB port for OTG, charging.
The top of spark 7p is free as all external places for other external hardware like headphones is being located at the bottom of the phone. At the back of the smartphone is its 16mp autofocus triple rear camera. Tecno mobile didn’t clearly state the functions of the two assistant cameras, I can’t specifically state their functions. At the left top is a flashlight beside it. The Tecno spark 7p fingerprint scanner uses the old fashion style which is rear-mounted. In all Tecno spark, 7p looks great and appealing to the eyes. The spark 7p is not built to withstand water from penetration, as there are several open spaces for water to penetrate the device. Spark 7p will be dead in an hour if you do so.
Camera
I think the selling point of spark 7p should be its camera. The spark 7p comes with a triple rear camera the main camera is 16mp and a single front camera which is 8mp. Pictures taking with the 16mp camera look amazing, pictures look clearer, but I would prefer the Xiaomi note 8 rear camera when compared. Pictures being taken by the note 8 camera looks more vivid compared to spark 7p.
The front 8mp camera is also amazing images captured using the single 8mp camera look sharp. In terms of preference, I prefer the spark 7p camera to that of Xiaomi note 8 because it captures pictures as it is, and not adding excessive color like the note 8 front camera does. Hardware and software
Spark 7p comes with an MTK chipset intertwine with an Octa-core (2×2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6×1.7 GHz Cortex-A55) CPU and a Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU. Tasks are handled with ease with this octa-core processor. I did some tests like checking how responsive and also if it’s good for gaming. The spark 7p performed well in running some games like beach buggy, subway surfer, and also modern combat 5 which is also known as (MC5).
Although I am yet to try heavy games like Grid. I still have this feeling of it working on it, though it might not be great but it should work. Spark 7p comes with a 64GB ROM, 4GB RAM, and 128GB ROM, 4GB ram version. what I am reviewing today is just the 64GB ROM, 4GB RAM. The difference between the two is just the ROM sizes, all other features are the same.
For external hardware lovers, the Tecno spark 7p comes with full OTG compatibility. This means you can connect your mouse, gamepad, keyboards and also charge other smartphones with it.
Some software pre-installed on spark 7p include; chrome, google, HIOS based camera, gallery, Gmail, and more.
Battery and network
5000mah big battery is here. The spark 7p comes with a 5000mah big battery which is non-removable. The 7p can last more than a day on medium usage, it can also last long depending on the user usage. Sadly the spark 7p doesn’t come with a fast charge feature, so you are bound to charge up to 2hours or more, as the case may be. Some users are satisfied with the battery performance on Gsmarena. What I love about Tecno spark 7p
Display:
The spark 7p come with 720 x 1640 pixels and a (~263 PPI density). The display is clear and nice, especially at night. Also, the screen-to-body ratio is lovely.
Camera:
The 7p camera looks amazing. Like the pictures I posted above they look great, especially when pictures are taken at a closer range. The portrait mode is a killer, it does its work nicely you don’t need to hold on for too long for it to blur the background like the Nokia 5.1 plus does.
What I detest about the Tecno spark 7p
No fast charge:
A big battery with no fast charge can be frustrating. The spark 7p doesn’t come with a fast charge feature. It might take you close to 3hours to get to %100 from 0%.
No 5g service:
A phone as good as this is supposed to come with a 5g service. I know Tecno mobile purposely ditch out this feature because their main (CBD) central business district is in Africa and most African countries are still yet to install or utilize the 5g service. But still, it wouldn’t be a waste in the long run as some countries in Africa are almost done with installation.
In conclusion
The Tecno spark 7p is a good phone, beautiful and aesthetic pictures can be gotten from it, but it has its flaws like every other phone. Its flaws include inability to fast charge and no 5g service.
